I'm 5 weeks old today!

This is what happens when I skip all my naps...
Daddy was really glad he stayed home from work for this!

All bundled up ready for my first trip to Greenlake!

If only I was strong enough to sit up on my own...

Mom...I just peed through my 3rd outfit for the day!

Ah..."Old Buddy Picture" never lets me down!

I'm one month old now!

Well Brenden is now a month old and growing rapidly! He's suffering from some colic pretty badly right now and a possible lactose intolerance issue, but we are all surviving. We are working on getting him into more of a routine during the day because he's a happier baby when he takes a couple of naps. Some days we are lucky if he takes one good nap, but we're hoping for two eventually! Despite the colic, he's a pretty happy baby most of the time and loves to interact with us and stare at pictures on the walls. He had his first trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house out in Sequim this past week for about 4 days and did very well. It was pretty cold out so we didn't leave the house much while we were there, but we still had a good time!

Taking a snooze at Grandma & Grandpa's house...my first trip to Sequim!

My big outing for the day...the Sequim Walmart!

After I power puked on mommy...and myself, hence the no clothing...and after my bath, I did it again!!!

Very proud of my power puking abilities...mommy had just taken a shower!

It's playtime! I'm finally noticing toys...if only I could figure out how to grab them!

Staring at my old buddy picture on the wall!

I was sound asleep 5 minutes after taking this picture...

Out on the town!

Wednesday January 16th...

Brenden spent his first night last night out of mom and dad's room and bunked with Grandma who is here giving us a bit of a break. He did quite well and only woke her up a couple of times to eat. Thankfully he is bottle friendly at night since he nurses during the day. He had a bit of a trying afternoon earlier that day and waited literally 15 minutes before Grandma arrived to finally fall asleep and take his afternoon nap. Than proceeded to be a perfect angel the rest of the evening.

Before Grandma arrives...

15 min before Grandma arrives and 2 1/2 hours later...

Thursday January 17th...

Today we spent our first day out on the town with Grandma. Started with a dress fitting, out to lunch, a weight check and than off to Babies R Us to pick up a few necessary items. All in all, he did quite well, nursed for the first time out of the house (hiding in a dressing room), and had his diaper changed in the booth at the restaurant...no privacy for this little guy! I think he enjoyed being out of the house today...and I know that I definitely did!

Brenden now weighs 10 pounds at 3 1/2 weeks old...quite the little porker!

I'm 3 weeks old now!

Well, Brenden turned 3 weeks yesterday! He seems to be spending his now 4th week of life testing our patience by not sleeping for more than a few minutes at a time and eating constantly! He must be going through a growth spurt as he's now finally fitting into his 0-3 month clothing. Something tells me this won't last long as he eats like a horse. Most breastfed babies eat 7-8 times a day, he's eating about 12 times a day!

This is our first week with Todd back at work, though he was home sick with us today. We miss him when he's gone. We are very much looking forward to Grandma's visit tomorrow since she has generously offered to take on the night shift. I might get a shower and a good night sleep!

I'm hoping to try out my new sling tomorrow with him...this was the one outing we took together on Monday. I found a local company that makes these great slings to allow you to be "hands free" when you have a baby who likes to be close to mom all the time. Hopefully Brenden likes his sling...we used it for about 15-20 minutes this evening and he seemed quite cozy and content. Than he loaded up his diaper and all peace was lost!

A bit exhausted in the kitchen wearing the sling for the first time...he looks so peaceful and angelic here! Don't be fooled!

He lasted about 10 minutes in the swing before insisting on yet another meal!

Just me and dad!

A rare moment of peace!

My first stroll around the neighborhood!

Poor Jayden...first a baby, than humiliation!

Today Brenden went on his first stroller ride around the neighborhood. He met a few neighbors and more than a few of the neighborhood pooches! Jayden only got run over by the stroller wheel once! He seemed to enjoy the ride until we heard the too familiar sound of a freshly loaded diaper at which time we headed back home! Now with a fresh diaper and full tummy he is back napping on his favorite spot...mom's chest!

1:00 am diaper disaster

So last night we had quite an experience...one I will never be able to forget unfortunately. Brenden woke up to eat than we went in to change his diaper before putting him back to bed. We timed this all wrong and should have waited about 2 minutes longer. Just as I removed the dirty diaper what we thought was just gas was definitely not. Brenden proudly nailed not only my hand an arm, his clothes, the changing pad, the wall and about 10 different items stacked up on the floor next to the changing table (a good 2 1/2 foot arch). Thankfully most of these items were Christmas gifts still in easily wipeable packaging. Now whenever I hear the term "golden arches" McDonalds will not be my first thought. And here I've only been worried about getting peed on!
