Brenden has officially outgrown all of his newborn and 0-3 month size clothes...despite the fact that he's only 7 weeks old! He's a healthy, growing boy!

Well, it's been a pretty good week so far...he's a happy baby! However he doesn't have a happy momma when he decides to have a major blow-out diaper the one time she walks out of the house without a change of clothing...

I'm 6 weeks old now!

I turned 6 weeks old this week this past Monday and am finally starting to enjoy myself a bit. Now that I don't feel like a fire breathing dragon every time I eat life is much much better! I don't like to take my medicine, but mom finally figured out I'll take it in a bottle when I'm having lunch.

Brenden's First trip to the Emergency Room

Sunday we spent our first afternoon in the ER with Brenden after a concerning trip to the pediatrician. He had been having bouts of crying in pain after eating for a few days in a row that escalated rapidly on Friday and Saturday. The diagnosis for now is GERD (reflux) and seems to be a bit better with the medication. Thank goodness it works quickly!

Yesterday we followed up at the hospital for a hip ultrasound and learned that he has a problem called hip dysplasia. It's relatively minor, but if there is no change in the development of his right hip socket in a month, he will be the unlucky little guy who gets to wear a harness that isolates his hip joints for 2-3 months. The pediatrician is in hopes he doesn't need this since his problem is minor.

Today he had a check-up with his pediatrician...he now weighs nearly 12 lbs. He is in the 90th percentile for weight, 75th percentile for height, and 95th percentile for head circumference.

So all in all, it's been a rough couple of days, but at least he doesn't seem to be in pain as much after he eats, and in general he is much happier...as are mom and dad!

I'm one month old now!

Well Brenden is now a month old and growing rapidly! He's suffering from some colic pretty badly right now and a possible lactose intolerance issue, but we are all surviving. We are working on getting him into more of a routine during the day because he's a happier baby when he takes a couple of naps. Some days we are lucky if he takes one good nap, but we're hoping for two eventually! Despite the colic, he's a pretty happy baby most of the time and loves to interact with us and stare at pictures on the walls. He had his first trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house out in Sequim this past week for about 4 days and did very well. It was pretty cold out so we didn't leave the house much while we were there, but we still had a good time!
